Just to clarify, my Dad was very upset that I identified this window as "broken" when in fact it opens exactly one inch and therefore obviously not broken at all. My apologies.

decorating tips
For some reason Pintrest never suggests little gems like arranging fishing floats and the odd feather into plastic cups for maximum aesthetic appeal.

broken window
This window hasn't opened for years. Something to do with the fibreglass body of an Austin-Healey kit car leaning up against the outside of the house.

Sunday Best
My Mum has been concerned lately about missing corks every time she looking to put one back to stop up a wine bottle. Apparently my Dad has been using them for homemade fishing floats. They are actually beautifully crafted and hand painted an authentic fluorescent orange and my Dad is very proud of them. So proud of them in fact, that it has gotten to be too painful to watch if one or two get swept away down river by the current. Instead he uses store bought floats for fishing and keeps these ones at home for safe keeping.

$1.00 reading glasses
Frustrated with losing his reading glasses, my Dad bought a dozen pairs of questionable quality from the dollar store. Unfortunately once the stickers peel off it is really difficult to tell what the strength is, and rather than throw them away he spent this morning organizing them. Despite trying to keep at least three pairs on his person at all times, he is looking to keep them around the house in various locations so that he is never without a pair of reading glasses. I suspect he actually enjoys buying glasses for a dollar, so this is by no means a completed collection, yet. After this photo was taken I found two more pairs in a drawer and he was absolutely thrilled to be reunited with them.

Goodbye TV
So this poor defenseless TV will no more serve to the betterment of mankind. My Dad was very attached to this TV for sentimental value, as it was very cheap. Five years ago it was on Craigslist for a hundred bucks, in what I have recently been informed, was a very bad deal. The way my Dad tells it, he was fortunate to identify the exact time in the market when everyone was offloading their old but very good TVs for flatscreens. My Dad has given it five years of a wonderful life, and very optimistically sent it off to the recycling deport with the original remote and instruction booklet taped to it. He would also prefer that I mention here that it had a combo VCR/DVD, as a testament to its many desirable qualities. Unfortunately, none of my Dad's lengthy reminiscences about this TV actually include watching it.

lobster pots
These saucepans have been relocated outside for the time being, they could be affectionately be called "lobster pots" but we're unlikely to refer to these with affection. My Dad may have caught on that there are no takers for his lobster bisque, or it could be that he simply hasn't noticed my Mum has banned all seafood water from the kitchen. Right now they have been living outside on the patio since yesterday.
